You Don’t Have to Protect Yourself
When making a change in perception, one of the harder habits to wrap your mind around is that you don’t have to protect yourself. Of course I’m referring to your mind, and your mental state.
You can realize an amazing freedom when you learn to let go a little each time you feel yourself closing to a thought, an idea or a person that threatens your way of thinking or perceiving.
It has to be a conscious thought as you practice this. At first you’ll be surprised by how many things you protect yourself from in your daily life. Sometimes you protect yourself because of an incident that happened when you were very young and it was the best response at that time.
You have to sort these things out and be gentle with yourself as you let go, taking small steps all the way.
