Be More Absorbed By Your Activities

Remember being a child and not hearing your mother calling you from the other room? My mother was very understanding and knew when I didn’t answer her I was probably absorbed in play.

Being more absorbed with your activities  is the ability to be fully engaged mentally and emotionally with something your interested in. Absorption is known to be a part of the  hypnotic state.

You can learn (really re-learn) this ability with self-hypnosis.

Try this:

  1. Breath in to the count of 8, hold for 8 and exhale to the count of 16.
  2. Repeat 3 times.
  3. Make sure you’re feeling comfortable and relaxed.
  4. Look up to the ceiling and focus on the corner of the room. Continue to focus as you feel yourself becoming more relaxed.
  5. Let your mind relax and if thoughts are compelling, let them go.
  6. Focus for a few minutes.
  7. Now, while focusing on the corner, use your peripheral vision to see the room over your left shoulder, then your right shoulder.
  8. Feel the space under your chair as if you were suspended. Feel the space, see the space behind you.

Practice this exercise to improve focus and openness and be more in control of your ability to become absorbed.
