NLP Portland, Oregon: Your Anchors: Developing Your Anchors for Success
When you want to create a new habit, there are several techniques that can be helpful. Anchoring your new behavior or habit is one that is useful and can be included in your rapid-response toolbox.
Think about what triggers you to respond a particular way. The sound of a bell (last post), the face of your sweetheart, the undiluted happiness of your dog greeting your when you come home from being out?
Now, take the example of seeing the loving face of your sweetheart. Anchor this by bringing the image into focus . Create your anchor, such as touching the index finger with the thumb, while looking at the image. Pay very close attention to how you feel this in your body, what you actually see (sparkle in the eye, rosy cheeks) or even the sound of their voice. The point is to notice minute details. Then, create the anchor.
When you’re in a situation that requires you to be more resourceful than usual, fire off that anchor: touch the thumb to the index finger and you’ll get the sensations of the pleasant image, in a flash. You’ll then feel your more positive state.
