NLP Portland, Oregon: Anchoring and Pavlov’s Dogs: Even a Dog Can Practice Neuro-linguistic-Programming

Neuro Linguistics is a useful tool even if you don’t want to become a coach. I titled this post about Pavlov’s dogs because he received a Nobel Prize in Physiology for his work training dogs to salivate even when they weren’t hungry. He accomplished this by ringing a bell each time they were given food (stimulus). Soon he just rang the bell without providing the food and the dogs salivated. The bell was the anchor. (You figured that out)

What you need to repeat his experiment:

  • Willing or hungry dogs
  • A Bell
  • Dog food
  • Curiosity
  • Follow-through
  • Desire for Results

Anchoring in NLP helps you create positive states. Like ringing the bell while you’re feeling great when you want to encourage yourself to form a new habit or helpful behavior.
