Stop Explaining Yourself

Self-Hypnosis is a helpful technique to learn to stop explaining yourself to others. It takes effort to stop this behavior but you’ll be amazed at the increased self-confidence you’ll feel.

Try this:

  1. Breathe in to the count of 8, hold for 8 and exhale to the count of 16.
  2. Repeat 3 times. Use this throughout the day.
  3. Reflect on your day.
  4. Make note of the times when you explained your behavior or decisions to the people around you.
  5. Think of how you would prefer to respond without feeling the need to explain yourself.
  6. Helpful is to stop yourself each time you begin explaining and remain silent.
  7. Your listener will notice at first, but eventually you’ll be good at it and your silence will be your strength.
