If you’ve experienced a crisis that seems to stay with you no matter how you try to ignore it, you will benefit by knowing how to heal trauma with shifts in perception.

Clients who come to me needing to make these shifts  will begin by using the basic breathing technique.

You’d be surprised how many people are unaware of their breath and how useful paying attention to it can be.

Try this:

  1. Breathe in to the count of 6, hold the breath for 6 and then exhale all the way out to your internal count of 12.
  2. If you find the 12 count isn’t long enough to exhale thoroughly,  try using an 8 count in, hold for 8 and a  16 out.
  3. Repeat 3 times.
  4. Take the time to notice its effect. Are you more relaxed?
  5. Changing your perception includes learning mindful meditation and increasing your focus with self-hypnosis.
  6. Creating more self awareness, both mentally and physically helps to stop the loop of anxiety created by the trauma.
  7. Breaking the trance of feeling traumatized and welcoming a feeling of control helps to reframe the experience.

Increasing your ability use self-hypnosis and visualization is helpful.
