Being True to Your Values

Be True to You
Being True to Your Values
When I see clients who are feeling upset and vulnerable, I’m not surprised to find they’ve recently had a big disappointment.
The disappointment often comes after the high of being extremely hopeful and maybe even lavishly praised for something they’ve accomplished.
You can avoid being disappointed in your life by understanding your values.
Try this:
- Breathe in to the count of 8, hold for 8 and exhale to your count of 16.
- Repeat 3 times.
- Get into a comfortable position.
- Once relaxed, ask yourself what’s important about what you do.
- If you love your work, you’ll be reviewing the process and your enjoyment of it.
- The reward of a completed project is fine, but the process is usually the life of it.
- Consider how it would be if you used your own values to judge your completed project. Chances are you’d not feel vulnerable in any way.
- Neither an award, a compliment or criticism could hurt. You would simply accept these gestures as subjective information to be used when suitable.
- Visualize your process.
Write down the important points.
Enjoy!
