Hypnosis Portland, Oregon: Best 5 Goals for the New Year:

Love Yourself

Hypnosis Portland, Oregon: Best 5 Goals for the New Year: Goal # 1: Love yourself

As a hypnotherapist, my clients’ desire to achieve their goals is a common issue. But the goals for the New Year are unique, aren’t they?
I’m choosing the best 5 Goals for the New Year from the long list of client goal intentions they’ve expressed throughout the year.

The following information is according to www.happywink.org
History of New Year’s Resolution
It is said that the tradition of making New Year’s Resolutions was started by early Babylonians. Their most fervent resolution was to return borrowed farm equipment and begin the new year with a clean slate. Some people believe that New Years Resolutions were once promises made to the Gods, in the hope that the Gods would grant them some favor in return, such as a good harvest. It was also believed that breaking of New Year’s resolution brought bad luck on the individual hence one was advised to be careful while making New Year’s Resolution.

Goal # 1
Love yourself. Here’s an older post from my blog to illustrate a method toward loving yourself. You must love yourself first, then you can pull from this quality to show love to others.

When I’m working with a client I notice how they treat themselves and encourage them to be aware of how they treat themselves too. I usually ask simple questions that give them the opportunity to fully consider their personal strategies.

It’s often very powerful for them to visualize a clear picture of themselves when they were approximately 5 years old.

I then suggest that they feel affection toward this younger self and to visualize and imagine (by recalling a photo or some event in the past) assuring their 5 year old selves that: ‘your life is under control’, and ‘you may just go ahead and play’; ‘there is nothing to worry about’, that you’ve got it.

You can practice loving yourself by having the image of your child-self in mind, feeling deep affection and imagining holding her close.

This may help you develop a gentler attitude toward yourself . You may be surprised how much nicer others seem when you are nice to yourself.
