Hypnosis Portland, Oregon: Are You a Perfectionist?

There is a sad quality of life I’ve noticed about you perfectionists. Are you a perfectionist?

 

When my clients see that they will never attain the high standards they’ve set for themselves, their growth and an expression of their sadness can begin.

 

If you think you might be a perfectionist, try this:

  • Breathe in to the count of 4, hold to a count of 4 and exhale to your internal count of 8.
  • Repeat 3 times. If you’re enjoying it, continue until you’re ready to proceed.
  • Now that you’re relaxed and in a comfortable position:
  1. Remember a time when you were happy, really happy.
  2. As you consider this time, notice everything about your representation of the event.
  3. Is it in color or black and white?
  4. Continue to relax and notice the details in the memory.

Now pay attention to where you feel ‘happy’ in your body as a result of this memory:

  1. Do you feel an urge to improve the picture? Stop yourself.
  2. Even if you stop yourself from ‘improving’ for a few seconds, you’ll have stopped the cycle of perfectionism.

Small steps are often best when making these kinds of changes.
