Teaching my clients self-hypnosis is one of the most important techniques I give them and helping them to fully understand the concept of taking ‘the smallest next step” is the second most important thing I do.

Try this:

  1. Breathe in to the count of 8, hold for 8 and exhale slowly to the count of 16.
  2. Do this 3 times. Learn to do this throughout your day. It will help you in more ways than you can imagine.
  3. Feel the comfort in your body as you sit quietly in a room where you won’t be disturbed.
  4. Look up to a corner of the walls and ceiling. Choose a spot to look at and stay with it.
  5. Now use your peripheral vision and see as far as you can over your left shoulder and then the right.
  6. Now while you’re in this relaxed state, be aware of the space behind you, under you and all around you.
  7. Consider the progress you’ve made toward achieving your goals.
  8. How’s it going for you so far?
  9. If you’re using the technique of ‘smallest next step’ then you are probably making progress.
  10. Understanding that the smallest next step followed by the next smallest next step is the path.
  11. Once you’ve thoroughly learned these techniques, you can use them without the need for deep relaxation or fixing your eyes on a spot.
