How Will You Know You’ve Met Your Goal?
You can ask yourself a few questions before trying to determine if you know you’ve met your goal.
You must be certain that what you want is something you truly want for yourself. It won’t work if someone else wants you to change. A good examples are stopping smoking or losing weight.
I always ask my clients who come to my office for the above reasons, if they’re doing it for themselves or someone else. It’s important that the process and outcome depends solely on them. Solid progress can be made this way.
Once you’ve become clear about your intentions ask yourself the following questions.
- When do I want to have accomplished the goal? Being specific allows you to include a daydream and therefore include more information and opportunity.
- Where do I want to be when I’ve accomplished the goal? Being specific about this brings you more information. It may not seem important until you fully consider it.
- How do I want to have accomplished the goal? This will help you break things down into realistic steps. By putting the question in the ‘past’, you may feel like you can more easily create steps that don’t include fear and self-criticism.
Can you think of any other good questions to ask yourself?
Enjoy!
