Happy Valentine's Day

Life Coach Portland, Oregon: Be in a Trance of Love: Happy Valentine’s Day

Love is a quality, a condition, a basic need to give and receive, that we all cherish.

Enjoy your day…be in a loving trance and consider these quotes from 2 people I admire:

He who wants to do good knocks at the gate: he who loves finds the door open.
Tagore

If you have only one smile in you give it to the people you love.
Maya Angelou

Enjoy your trance of love.

Voice in Your Head

Life Coach, NLP & Hypnosis, Portland Oregon: 5 Steps Toward Great Communication: Step # 4: Self-Talk

What are you saying to yourself all day long?

Self-talk is very revealing.

In my last post I wrote about having another’s voice in your head. Once you can tell the difference between your voice and another’s, you can pay close attention to how well you’re treating yourself.

Watch and listen to your self-talk and it will tell you if you’re gentle and kind with yourself and others.

It will tell you if you’re too busy by contradicting itself or talking at multiple levels as yet another thought pops into your head. Monkey mind.

Self-talk can start leaking out of your brain through your mouth as you
talk to yourself aloud. Sometimes this works to keep you on task, but control of your self-talk is an essential ingredient to lead your on-purpose life.

What do you think?

Communication

NLP Portland, Oregon: NLP Started With: Communication

NLP began as a model regarding communication:

How we communicate with others and ourselves.

You may say, ourselves? But yes, it can help you change the way you see the world and yourself.

What you say to yourself all day long is one way you’re communicating
with yourself.

You may take instructions from a set of rules that you haven’t reviewed since childhood.

These rules could be based on the beliefs of the people who raised you
or with whom you came into close contact.

This is not to say all your rules and values are suspect. The important thing is to decide for yourself what you value and what rules to follow.

Taking a step back and really looking at these values will improve your
communication.

NLP is great for this kind of change work.

Self-hypnosis is a way to re-imprint the values you discover you’d like to include once you’ve identified them.

Self-Hypnosis: New Technique

Self Hypnosis is simple and easy. This technique will allow you to relax and also make changes in your life. It is similar to meditation and many people feel a spirituality, a deep connection with something when they go into trance. Everyone’s experience is unique.

You can record the script and play it back to yourself, or you can study the structure and put yourself into trance by going over it in your mind.

Eventually, after some practice, you will be able to slip into trance just by willing it. (David Mason, 2010)

  1. Take a deep breath in to the count of 4, hold for 4 and exhale slowly to your internal count of 8.
  2. Repeat 3 times and return to normal breathing.
  3. Fee the tension subside and just allow your body to relax.
  4. Let your eyes close naturally.
  5. Pay close attention to your body and give special attention to those areas that are tense.
  6. Make these areas you’ve discovered more tense, release and then feel them relax even more.
  7. You want your body to feel loose and heavy and aware of gravity pulling you down.

Next:

  1. Imagine a line, however you see it is correct, and see the numbers 1-10 spaced out along this line.
  2. Now that you have the line and numbers, imagine that the distance between each number becomes greater and greater. For example: the distance between 2 and 3 is 4 times greater than that of 1 to 2. And so on.
  3. Imagine you are sliding along this line, feeling the greater and greater distances between the numbers. As you move along you feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed.
  4. You should be feeling a light trance.

Help for Anxiety

Hypnotherapy Portland, Oregon: Best 5 Goals for the New Year: Goal # 3: Control anxiety and stress

Best Help for Anxiety

For some years now, classical musicians sometimes use Beta-blockers, which are cardiac meds, not tranquilizers or sedatives, to help with their extreme performance anxiety.

Their instructors suggest the use of Propanolol to students who have an acute problem with anxiety. Propanolol blocks the action of adrenaline, keeps the heart beating slowly and dulls the sympathetic nervous system which would normally produce fear in us when we sense danger.

I can’t blame them. I know first hand what performance anxiety feels like, and being able to ingest something that will keep the palms dry and the mind on task must be magical.

However, the best help for anxiety really is hypnotherapy.
